Starting on Monday 19th February at Westminster Academy, Westminster City Council will be working in partnership with around 50 to 60 residents and partner organisations to co-design community hubs in Bayswater and Maida Vale wards.Supported by Mutual Gain, Lynch Architects and Atkins Realis, the workshops will identify community priorities which each hub should respond to, and shape plans for their design, what they will offer and how they will be run.&nbsp;Residents were selected at random by the Sortition Foundation, with additional representatives and partner organisations applying to participate through an open process. However, regular updates will be posted on the Commonplace platform so that the wider community and stakeholders can also feed into the process.The workshops will run until April, with a final report and recommendations produced shortly afterwards.

Launch of co-design process for Bayswater Children's Centre and Ernest Harriss House community hubs

Some members of the Communities department recently carried out some street engagement outside of Bayswater Children&#39;s Centre in Westbourne Park, to find out how they feel about their community, what its strengths are, and what more they would like to see in the local area.<img src="https://res.cloudinary.com/commonplace-digital-limited/image/upload/v1703100270/projects/westminsterhubs/b93ebf36-f73e-4d3d-8a35-e43084ffc0cc.jpg" class="fr-fic fr-dii">The engagement went well, with residents generally giving very positive feedback about the area but saying that they wanted to see more activities for children and young people, and more support for vulnerable people, especially the elderly.The stall was one of a number of engagement activities planned by the team over the next few months in the co-design and development of the Bayswater Community Hub.For more information, please email the team at communityhubs@westminster.gov.uk.
